New Market - Leona Wray Groves, 79, died at 4:50 p.m. Wednesday at Hunter's Rest Home in Crawfordsville. She had been seriously ill for two months. Born Sept. 25, 1886 at New Market, she was a daughter of Edgar and Zenia Hinkle Wray. She married Edward Groves on Sept. 23, 1909. Mrs. Groves was a member of the Whitesville Christian Church. She graduated from New Market High School in 1906. Survivors include her husband, Edward; three sons, Paul and William, both of Crawfordsville and Robert of Darlington; a daughter, Mrs. Barbara Nickerson of O'Neill, Neb.; 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Bernice Wray of Darlington, and a niece, Mrs. William Degitz of Crawfordsville. A daughter and brother preceded her in death. Funeral services are set for 2 p.m. Saturday at Noble Reeves Funeral Home with Rev. Lewis Marsh officiating. Burial will be in Masonic Cemetery at Crawfordsville. Friends may call at the funeral home after noon Friday.
